Christian Motorcyclists Association New Zealand Incorporated carried a 1908 Act registration from 2009 right through to 5 April 2026. No reregistration under the 2022 Act was ever recorded against it, so it came off the register the following day.
Restoring Christian Motorcyclists Association New Zealand Incorporated is open until 6 April 2032, roughly 5 years away, and the application must come from someone who was an officer or member on the day it was removed. What a removed society can no longer do and how the Form IS22-RES08 application works are covered in full in the guides.
Seven steps, in order, for a society that never reregistered under the 2022 Act.
Find someone who was an officer or member on 6 April 2026
The application has to come from a person who held that role on the day of removal. Someone who joined afterwards cannot apply, which for a society running since 2009 usually means tracing the last committee.
Get back to 10 members who have consented
The 2022 Act sets a minimum of 10 members, and consent to membership has to be recorded rather than assumed. Reconstructing that list is the step that stalls most applications.
Write a constitution that meets the 2022 Act
Mandatory content is listed belowRestoration puts the society under the new Act, and a 1908-era rulebook will not satisfy it. The Companies Office publishes a free Constitution Builder that drafts a compliant one, and a checklist of everything it must contain.
Adopt it at a general meeting
The notice period comes from the rules the society already has, not from the new constitution — it is not in force until members adopt it. Record the resolution; an amendment has to reach the Registrar within 25 days of member approval.
Lodge Form IS22-RES08
NZ$177.78 + GST payable to the RegistrarEmailed to compliance@companiesoffice.govt.nz or posted to the Companies Office, with the society name and number exactly as the register holds them, and an explanation of why it did not reregister in time.
Wait out the objection period
About 4 weeksOnce the Registrar is satisfied, the restoration is publicly notified and anyone may object for 20 working days. That runs however clean the application is, so budget roughly four weeks for it.
Restart banking, insurance and funding
Banks, insurers and grant funders act on what the register says. None of them move until the restoration appears there, so this is the last step rather than something to arrange in parallel.
The Companies Office publishes a free Constitution Builder that drafts one for you, and a checklist of everything it must contain. Neither costs anything.

Is Christian Motorcyclists Association New Zealand Incorporated still registered?
No — society number 2378369 of Auckland is recorded as Removed. It held its 1908 Act registration from 2009 and never reregistered under the 2022 Act, so the Registrar struck it off when the transition window shut on 5 April 2026.
Who can apply to restore Christian Motorcyclists Association New Zealand Incorporated?
Only a person who was an officer or a member on the day it came off the register. For a society incorporated in 2009 that usually means tracing the committee as it stood in early 2026. Applications close 6 April 2032.
What happens to the assets of Christian Motorcyclists Association New Zealand Incorporated?
Until it is restored it cannot hold a bank account, property or insurance in its own name, including anything registered to its Auckland address. Anything it owned can be treated as ownerless and pass to the Crown, and committee members can be personally exposed for obligations taken on in the meantime.
